Justice & Peace Commission
Established to assist the Bishop in matters of Justice, Peace, Reconciliation, conflict mitigation, resolution and management — fulfilling the mandate of the 1989 Hoima Diocesan Synod.
The Justice and Peace Commission of Hoima Catholic Diocese was established to assist the Bishop in matters of Justice, Peace, Reconciliation, conflict mitigation, resolution and Management among others. Since its inception, the Commission has tried to fulfil her mandate as indicated in the resolutions of Hoima Diocesan Synod of 1989.
The Commission works closely with a Board whose composition is fifteen men and women chosen and appointed by the Bishop, basing on their merit, character and willingness to serve the diocese on a voluntary level.

Capacity Building & Institutional Strengthening
Strengthening the Commission's ability to effectively serve the Diocese and communities.
Community Dialogues & Psychosocial Support
Offering psychosocial support to refugees and facilitating community dialogue sessions.
Strengthening Peace Clubs in Schools
Building a culture of peace among young people through school-based peace clubs.
Radio Talk Shows
Reaching communities through radio programs on justice, peace, and reconciliation.
Mediation Services
Offering mediation to people and communities in conflict and disputes.
Environmental Justice – Green for Life
Engaging youth in environmental conservation and climate justice programs.
Future Plans for the Commission
Justice & Peace Resource Center
Establish a center offering training, meeting space, lodging and catering. It will include a museum for Bunyoro artifacts. The diocese has allocated 10 acres for this cause.
Mediation Services Expansion
Offering mediation to people and communities in disputes, leading them to reconciliation and supplementing existing legal procedures.
Expanded Qualified Staff
Recruiting additional staff qualified in various fields relevant to the Commission's growing mandate.
Field Mobility Gadgets
Securing iPads and mobile tools for personnel to capture and verify cases requiring immediate government attention.
Transport for Staff
Securing means of transport for quick and faster interventions in conflict situations.
Translation Desk
Establishing a desk to translate relevant Church documents into local languages, publish and distribute them to parishes.
